Francisco A. Moreno, M.D. is Professor of Psychiatry and Associate Vice President at the University of Arizona Health Science, leading the Office of Diversity and Inclusion; Multiple Principal Investigator and Engagement Lead of the NIH-Precision Medicine Initiative’s grant “All of Us Research Program”; Principal Investigator of the Arizona Health Career Opportunity Program; and Multiple Principal Investigator of an NIH-NHLBI R-25 grant for research and career advancement of early career faculty.
He has been conducting research in biology and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, geared to improve our understanding of the brain basis for mental illness and the underlying mechanism of action of antidepressants / anti-anxiety drugs, and treatment resistance. He is conducting trans-disciplinary collaborative research in the use of psilocybin for the treatment of OCD and exploring brain imaging and electrophysiology biomarkers of treatment response.
